Introductory Course in Epidemiology and Biostatistics

Course Structure
• Week 1: Define problem
Introducing basic epidemiological concepts, including the definition of epidemiology, disease surveillance, and outbreak investigation.
• Week 2: Identify cause
Study designs used in epidemiology. Participants will learn about observational studies (cohort, case-control, cross-sectional, ecological) and experimental studies.
• Week 3: Infer to population
Basic biostatistical concepts and methods, focusing on descriptive and inferential statistics. Participants will learn how to summarize and present data, perform hypothesis testing, and calculate confidence intervals.
• Week 4: Application
Risk assessment, risk communication, economic evaluation of health interventions, and program evaluation.
Tuition Fee
$2,500 includes lecture fee, training materials, coffee breaks and lunches.
Participant's Qualification
• A degree in medicine, veterinary medicine or public health office.
• Working in public health or public health services in prevention and control.
• Test score of English, preferably a TOEFL score of at least 500.
